Typical Audio Transformer Wire Color Codes


 
 Plate lead of primary:                            Blue
 
 B+ lead (plain or center-tapped):                 Red
 
 Plate (start) lead on center-tapped primaries:    Brown (or Blue*)
 
 Grid (finish) lead to secondary:                  Green
 
 Grid return (plain or center-tapped):             Black
 
 Grid (start) lead on center-tapped secondaries:   Yellow (or Green*)

* Possible color if polarity is not important.

NOTE: These markings also apply to line-to-grid and tube-to-line transformers.
